Dear Mead High School Community,
Wow! The Mavericks are rocking and rolling right now. There is so much to celebrate from this week. Going in order of the events, I first want to recognize our amazing Cheer and Dance/Poms programs. These teams had their first competitions of the season at their respective league meets. Both teams put on wonderful performances and set a good foundation for the rest of the competition season. I am so proud of the growth of both programs in large part due to the strong coaching and leadership. On Thursday of this week, our theatre department kicked off their fall play. This year, they are doing things different by hosting three different one act plays. This helps open up more opportunities for the over 80 students that are involved. The three shows, Sherlock’s Best, Every Novel You Read in High School, and The Yellow Wallpaper showcase our students’ acting talents in three very different styles of show. Come out and see our students on Friday and Saturday at 6:30pm. At the time of this writing, our volleyball team is 2-0 in the state playoffs and will play later this afternoon with a guaranteed game on Saturday as well. Unified Bowling also will compete in their regional event this afternoon for a chance to qualify for state. Finally, our football team starts their playoffs this Saturday with a home game against Pueblo South. It is busy around Mead HS, but it is great seeing so many students participating in activities and performing at the highest levels. Winter sports begin on Monday. If any student is interested in participating they must get registered and have all paperwork on file.
This Thursday we will host our Open House event at 6:00pm. This event is designed to showcase our course offerings, programs, and extracurricular options for potential students. The event focuses on incoming 9th grade students and other students who are looking to transfer here to Mead for next year. The open enrollment registration window opens on Dec. 2nd. If you know anyone who is interested in coming to Mead HS or anyone who may still be trying to figure out which school is best, please encourage them to attend our Open House on Thursday, Nov. 21st at 6:00pm.

Sincerely,
Brian Young
