Dear Mead High School Community,
Welcome back from Spring Break. I hope everyone had a restful week. It seems our Mavericks came back ready to learn and ready to work. As I have walked through classrooms I am seeing students engaging in many different activities including class discussions, small group presentations, labs, solving difficult problems, and answering thoughtful questions. Today our band competed in a state competition at Eaton HS and earned a superior rating, which is the highest rating possible. Our orchestra did the same thing a few weeks ago, which reinforces how amazing our performing arts programs are here at Mead. Way to go Mrs. Judy, Mr. Matchey and members of the band. Our sports teams are also showing high levels of success. Girls lacrosse, track and field, and baseball all had trips over spring break and experienced high levels of competition. Congrats to Rylee Klatt on setting a new school record in the 200m. Our girls lacrosse, girls soccer, baseball, and tennis teams all won games/matches this week. Track and Field has a big competition at Niwot HS on Saturday. Cheer tryouts took place this week and it is great to see this program continue to grow. Finally, our theatre department is putting on the final touches of “Mamma Mia” which is a few short weeks away from opening night. Looking at the rehearsals it is going to be an amazing show.
On Wednesday we met with all of our seniors from the class of 2025 during Advisory/Mav20 and then later in the eventing their parents to go over important graduation and senior event information. If you missed that meeting, check out the senior corner on our school website or newsletter. There are many important deadlines coming up. We also handed out graduation announcements to families who ordered them from Jostens. If you didn’t pick yours up, they can be found in the main office.
As we move into next week, we expect our students to keep working hard in and out of school. Prom tickets will be on sale and students are working hard to keep their grades up and show good attendance so they can attend the dance.
Thanks for supporting Mead HS. Together #WeAreMead
Sincerely,
Brian Young
