Estimadas familias de Mead:
We have had another exciting week of learning and activities at MHS. This month is Attendance Awareness Month, and we are very proud of our current attendance rate of 96.76%. We know that students who are in class have all the support they need to be successful. Please encourage your student to miss no more than nine days in the school year, and maintain a 95% or higher attendance rate.
I started my MHS student advisory council this week, where about 30 students showed up to share their experience at Mead. It was great to hear from the students that they feel incredibly supported by their teachers and know that they can always ask for help and that they are loving the cell phone policy. Many shared that it has been a relief to not worry about their phones during class time.
Our amazing counseling team has started their first round of individual student interviews, starting with our seniors. Every student will get at least two opportunities to meet with their counselor this year, and many will get more. Our goal is that every student is ready for whatever post-secondary plan they choose. We always have resources on colleges, college visits, military recruitment, internships, and more! Please encourage your student to visit our college and career center at any time.
Our fall sports had another great week. Our football team had an incredible comeback against Roosevelt last Friday, winning 35–28, and takes on our crosstown rivals, Frederick, tonight at 7 PM. Softball beat Silver Creek in the ninth inning 25–24, what a battle! Cross country and golf continue this weekend and have some great prospects for postseason competition! Volleyball has two Home games next week, versus Roosevelt and Centaurus.
