Principal’s Update

April 19th, 2024.

Dear Mead High School Community,

It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of the school year. Our seniors have less than a month left of school and our other students have less than 5 weeks left. As we near the end it is so important that our students take advantage of every opportunity to finish strong. This includes prepping for AP exams, working on final projects, attending tutoring and help sessions, and working with their teachers. Our goal is for each and every student to demonstrate standards mastery by the end of the year. Our teachers and staff are ready to help our students. Please feel free to reach out to them or contact the front office so we can partner on helping each student succeed.

Our performing arts programs take the main stage in this week’s highlights. The theatre department is halfway through their four nights of “Cinderella”. The show is the product of months of hard work by students, parents, community members and staff. Students are running everything from lights and sound, to set and costume, as well as playing in the orchestra, directing, and of course, singing and dancing. It is a fun and family friendly event. It is not too late to go, so get your tickets now or at the door, but don’t miss this amazing performance. The SVVSD Art Show is going on Tuesday through Saturday of this week. Stop by the Boulder County Fairgrounds to see all of the amazing creations our students have put together. Mead students won 8 different awards and the displays are amazing. This is a great event that St.Vrain puts on and the Mead students stand out amongst them all.

In sports news, our girls soccer and girls lacrosse teams are both ranked #1 in the state in 4A. Both teams have tough competition coming up but continue to prove why they are top in the state. Baseball has held their own in a few recent series’ against top ranked Windsor and Holy Family. Tennis has had tough weather conditions, but the girls keep getting better. Girl’s golf hosted a tournament this week and both Varsity and JV girls did well. Finally, Track and Field was at the BOCO invite last week and two different school records were set. The track team continues to improve and looking to make an impact at the state meet.

We are looking forward to another great week in Maverick Country. #WeAreMead

Sincerely,

Brian Young
