NCAA Athletic Eligibility

NCAA Eligibility Center – If you would like to play sports in college at the Division I or II level, then you’ll need to register with the Eligibility Center. Students need to complete 16 core courses and achieve a specific core GPA and SAT/ACT subscore to be eligible to accept an athletic scholarship and compete as a college freshman. Make sure to meet with your counselor about the NCAA. Register at www.eligibilitycenter.org 

Division 1 Athletic Eligibility Requirements

  • 16 core courses
  • English (4) , Math (3), Science (2), Additional Math, English, Science (1), Social Science (2), Additional Core Courses (4)
  • Minimum core-GPA must be 2.3 or higher
  • Corresponding SAT/ACT score
  • Full Qualifier – College-bound student-athletes may practice, compete and receive athletics scholarships during their first year of enrollment at an NCAA Division I school.
  • Academic Redshirt – (2.0-2.29 core-GPA) College-bound student-athletes may receive athletics scholarships during their first year of enrollment and may practice during their first regular academic term, but may NOT compete during their first year of enrollment. 
  • Non Qualifier – College-bound student-athletes cannot practice, receive athletics scholarships or compete during their first year of enrollment at an NCAA Division I school. 

Division 2 Athletic Eligibility Requirements

  • 16 core courses
  • English (3) , Math (2), Science (2), Additional Math, English, Science (3), Social Science (2), Additional Core Courses (4)
  • Minimum core-GPA must be 2.2 or higher
  • Corresponding SAT/ACT score
  • Full Qualifier – College-bound student-athletes may practice, compete and receive athletics scholarships during their first year of enrollment at an NCAA Division II school.
  • Partial Qualifier – (2.0-2.19 core-GPA) College-bound student-athletes may receive athletics scholarships during their first year of enrollment and may practice during their first regular academic term, but may NOT compete during their first year of enrollment. 
  • Non Qualifier – College-bound student-athletes may not practice, compete or receive athletics scholarships during their first year of enrollment at an NCAA Division II school.
