Dear Mead Families,
As we settle into the second quarter, I want to take a moment to celebrate some incredible student achievements and share a few important updates. We recently wrapped up our first practice PSAT for our 9th and 10th graders, and the initial data shows fantastic growth compared to last year! Additionally, for our 11th graders taking the PSAT/NMSQT, our students showed up in full force and are currently meeting or exceeding both district and state averages for meeting benchmarks. We are deeply grateful to our families for supporting these testing opportunities and to our students for giving their absolute best effort, so we have accurate data to guide our instruction.
Our schoolwide attendance campaign continues to make great strides. We have set an ambitious goal of 95% daily attendance, and thanks to your support, MHS currently holds the highest attendance rate among all comprehensive high schools in the district at 94.6%!
We know that when students show up, they are more successful, and it’s clear that our students want to be at MHS.
To help every student succeed, we offer several dedicated academic support programs right here on campus:
- After-School Study Club: Meets on Wednesday from 3-4 PM in the main office.
- Math Tutoring: Available Monday through Thursday, except on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month due to staff meetings. 2:45-3:30 in G105
Our band performed last Tuesday and had an incredible performance. The bands at all levels continue to grow and excel in their performance. In addition, our marching band celebrated senior night at our last home football game on Friday night and marched in the annual Halloween parade on Saturday in their costumes.
On Wednesday, the Sportwomen of Colorado organized a mini-conference for over 40 female athletes from our varsity teams to attend a session on leadership and how to empower female athletes. We were honored to welcome back MHS Alumni and Olympic Runner, Abby Glynn, and Executive Director Jennifer Anderson-Ehrlich, to work with our athletes.
Our school community was treated to a fantastic performance by our mariachi band at our first Cafecito of the year. Their talent and vibrant sound truly brought the event to life. In addition, we honored 9 students who have achieved language proficiency in both English and their home language and are no longer in need of multilingual services. Bravo!
Yesterday, Saturday, October 31st, our Cross Country team headed to the Penrose Event Center to compete in the State Championship. Josh Knight finished 6th with a time of 15:39, and Asher Parsons finished 7th with a time of 15:44! Junior Eden Griebel showed up strong with a time of 20:37 in the women’s race! Incredible season for all these athletes! In addition, our cheer team competed in the UCA championship with both their game-day and traditional routines at the National Western Complex on Saturday! This program continues to elevate their routines and challenge themselves with their stunts. Great work, ladies!
Football and Volleyball wrapped up their regular season and are looking forward to playoffs. We hope that everyone can cheer on Volleyball in regionals next Saturday, November 7th. We will be hosting round 1 of football on November 14th at 1 PM. Student Council is planning a special celebration of our Veterans before kickoff. Please come to support our football team and Veterans on 11/14/26. We will be sending more information soon.
