Christine Engelen

Ms. Engelen is a recent transplant to Colorado, having moved to Fort Collins from northern Virginia in 2012. As the daughter of a US Marine, she lived in Virginia and throughout California before attending high school in Okinawa, Japan. She received her Bachelor's degree in English at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, and her Master's in Education from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA. She is currently working towards a Master of Arts degree in Creative Nonfiction Writing at Colorado State University.

Ms. Engelen taught high school English and Creative Writing for 12 years in Virginia, but worked outside public education for the 12-13 and 13-14 school years. Her interests include hiking, traveling, gardening, and of course, writing. She has traveled throughout Europe, Australia, and the Far East, and has backpacked the 500-mile Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route through northern Spain. She completed the St. Jude Marathon in 2010. She is also an avid NASCAR fan! Ms. Engelen is thrilled to be part of the Mead High School family, and looks forward to a fantastic year with the Mavericks.
